Many of our members enjoy the fun of adding period re-enacting to their lives. However, not all re-enactors and living history participants are SCV members. On many levels they both tie into each other, with one strong concept...keeping the image and history of the confederate soldier alive and well in this 21st century. SCV members have a certain special interest in throwing on the grey wool and leather gear, and that's to honor their ancestors, as well as the hundreds of thousands of other War Between the States Veterans and soldiers that fought and died for their love of family, state and country. You can catch our guys across the nation in parades, memorial services, annual historic events, battle re-creations and living history events. Many re-enactors spend hours teaching Southern Culture and War history to hundreds of students in schools from the East Coast to West Coast, and all parts in between.

Entire families get involved in stepping back in time to live weekends in a different century. From camp fires and night time music & sing-a-longs to soldier drilling and period female roles, there's great fun to be had in re-enacting. Participants generally wear exact replica military uniforms and civilian clothing of the period made with the same materials....and yes, those are real muskets!
